Maripat's Tex-Mex Black Bean Wild Rice Burger's

0.5 tbsp Chili powder1.0 tsp Cumin seed0.12 tsp Pepper, red or cayenne1.0 tsp Garlic0.5 cup, chopped Onions, raw0.12 cup Tomato Paste0.25 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap3.0 cup Beans, black1.0 serving Old Fashioned Quaker Oatmeal- Plain (1/2 cup dry)0.25 cup Green Giant Whole Kernel Sweet Corn2.0 tbsp *Flax Seed Meal (ground flax)1.0 tsp Salt1.0 cup Wild Rice
Make's 6 burgers.
MIX the Flax and water, let sit about 10 minutes to gel. In a large bowl mash the cooked beans with potato masher, until it's soft but still has a few whole beans left (for appearence).
Add the flax egg, spices, corn, onions, tomato paste, and mix well. Stir in the wild rice and oats, mixing them well. Form into 6 paddies about 1 inch thick.
(This can be cooked right away, but for easier handling chill for 2-8 hours. It can be mixed up in the morning or the night before).
Form into 6 patties.
Spray large skillet wtih cooking spray. Cook the patties about 8 minutes, flip and cook another 5 minutes or so.
This is really yummy topped with cheddar cheese, salsa or sliced tomato, lettuce and red onion slice. Serve on your favorite whole grain bun. .
Baked/oven fried zuchinne/yellow summer squash "chips" go well with this burger.
