Raisin Bran Banana Muffins

1/2 cup butter1 cup sugar2 eggs3 bananas, mashed1/2 cup buttermilk4 cups raisin bran1/2 cup dates, chopped1 apple, diced1 1/2 cups flour1 1/2 tsp baking soda1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp cinnamon1/4 tsp nutmeg
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add eggs, bananas and buttermilk; stir in cereal, dates and apple.
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir dry ingredients into wet, just until moistened (40 strokes stirring by hand).
Grease muffin tins; then fill 2/3 full. Bake in 350o oven for 23-26 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan. Serve warm with butter.
Yield: 2 dozen regular-size muffins
