creamy mushroom barley soup

1-2 onions2/3 cup pearled barley 1-2 potatoes diced or grated2-3 carrots diced or grated1 basket fresh mushroomsabout 2 tsp salt1/2 tsp pepper1 Tbsp flour1/2 cup milk1/4 cup dry white wine
Saute the onions in the oil until soft. Add the barley, vegetables and water. Allow to cook for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Allow some time for the soup to settle. Just before serving, mix the flour with the milk and add to the soup. Add the wine. Heat the soup and serve.
