Shrimp Creole

1/2 c chopped onion1/2 c chopped celery1/2 c chopped green pepper1 clove chopped garlic3 tbsp salad oil1 1lb can chopped tomatoes1 8 oz can tomato sauce1 tsp salt1 tsp sugar1/2 tsp chili powder1 tbsp worchestershire saucedash of hot sauce1 tsp cornstarch12 oz raw shrimp1 tsp cuminRice
Put oil into pan and cook celery, onions, bell pepper and onions until soft and tender but not brown. Add tomatoes and tomato sauce. Add seasonsings. Simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 2 tsp water in a small bowl to make a slurry, stir this into the pan, cook until it thickens slightly. Add shrimp, cover and cook for approximately 5 minutes, just until shrimp turn pink. (Don't overcook the shrimp or they will be tough and not flavorful) Serve over rice.
