1 lb. 93% lean ground turkey 1/2 lb. hot Italian turkey sausage1 cup chopped onion2 cloves garlic, chopped1 28 oz. can diced or crushed tomatoes (depends on if you like chunky tomatoes in your chili)1 15 oz. can tomato sauce1 14.5 oz. can spicy chili beans1 14.5 oz. can mild chili beans (I puree it to thicken the chili...and my husband doesn't like a lot of beans)1 Tbsp. chili powder1 tsp. ground cumin1 tsp. dried oregano leaves1 tsp. cocoa powder1/2 tsp. hot sauce
In a 10 inch skillet cook ground turkey, sausage, onion and garlic over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until turkey and sausage are thoroughly cooked; drain.
In a 3 quart crock pot combine turkey mixture and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours or on low for 7 to 8 hours.
Makes 7-1 1/2 cup servings.
