Laura's Yummy White Chili

1 med. onion, chopped2 garlic cloves, minced1 T. extra virgin olive oil2 cans (15 oz. each) cannellini beans or navy beans, rinsed and drained1 can (15 oz.) garbanzo beans (chickpeas), rinsed and drained2 c. low-sodium, fat free chicken broth1 can (4 oz.) chopped green chiles1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin1/2 tsp. dried oregano1/4 tsp. salt1 T. dried cilantro
*In dutch oven or soup pot, saute the onions and garlic in olive oil until tender. Add the beans, broth, green chiles, cumin, oregano, salt and cilantro. Stir well. Bring to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot topped with reduced fat shredded cheese and light sour cream, if desired. (cheese and sour cream not included in nutritional information). Yield: 8 servings (1 cup each)
