Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

1/2 cup butter1/2 cup white sugar2 eggs1 cup buttermilk1/2 tsp. baking soda1 cup cornmeal1 cup all-purpose flour1/2 tsp. salt
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees (175 degrees C), Grease an 8 inch pan.
2. Melt butter in a pan. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Quickly add eggs and beat until well blended. Combine buttermilk with baking soda and stir into mixture in pan. Stir in cornmeal, flour and salt until well blended and few lumps remain. Pour batter into prepared pan.
3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or untiln a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Makes 9 servings.
