Mama's Sugar Cookies - Made Healthy...well "er" anyways.

Ingredients
Reduced Recipe:
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/4 + 2 tbsp Splenda Sugar Blend for Baking
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup Egg Beaters
  • 4 tsp Milk, 1%
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Original Recipe:
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tsp milk
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Directions

This recipe is Mama Saunders' Sugar Cookies which is a HUGE favorite around our house though they don't usually make into cookie form!

  1. Thoroghly cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, beat unti light and fluffy. Stir in milk.
  2. Sift together dry ingredients. Blend into creamed mixture.
  3. Divide dough in half. Chill 1 hour.
  4. On lightly floured surface, rol to 1/8 inch thickeness. Cut in desired shapes with cutters.
  5. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375°F for 6 to 8 minutes.
  6. Cool slightly. Remove from pan.
  7. Cool on rack. Decorate.
Makes 2 dozen.
