Apple Dumplings

Filling:6 cups chopped apples1 tsp cinnamon1/4 tsp nutmeg1/4 tsp cloves1/2 tsp salt3 Tbsp flour1/4 cup apple juiceCrust:2 cups flour3/4 tsp salt2/3 cup shortening6 tsp cold water
Preheat oven to 375
Peel, core and chop apples into large mixing bowl. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt and flour. Add apple juice and toss to coat. Set aside to season.
In medium bowl, mix together flour and salt. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add water and mix into a soft dough. Divide crust into 8 parts and roll out one at a time into 6 inch circles.
Place 1/3-1/2 cup of filling in the middle of each crust and pinch into a bundle. Place in a greased 9x13 cake pan. Repeat with all 8.
Bake for 25 minutes. 1 dumpling = 1 serving. (Any ice cream you add is not included in the cal count! ; ) )
