8 oz can Tomato Sauce1/2 c. chopped Onion1/2 tsp dried Basil1/4 tsp Thyme, ground fresh ground black pepper to taste14.5 oz Kroger 33% less sodium chicken broth,1 14.5 oz can Tomatoes, diced no salt added
Saute chopped onion in a small amount of the chicken broth until soft, add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, thyme and black pepper, simmer 15 - 20 minutes. Cool slightly and puree in blender, return to pan and heat to serving temperature.
I didn't have a can of no salt added tomato sauce handy when I entered this recipe. If you use no salt added tomato sauce it will obviously lower the overall sodium content. I will edit the recipe as soon as I get a can of no salt added tomato sauce.
