Loreen's Crockpot Turkey Chili

Ingredients
400 grams extra lean ground turkey breast2 Tbsp unsalted butter1 large red onion5 cloves fresh garlic1/4 cup chili powder450 grams (one bag dried) red kidney beans5 fresh chili peppers2 cans (28 fl oz) Aylmer No Salt Added Diced Tomatoes
Directions
Makes 8 servings, about 1.5 cups each

Pre-soak beans according to package directions (at least one hour but overnight is better). Drain (but reserve bean water) and add beans to crockpot.
Dice one whole red onion and saute in butter with chopped garlic and chili peppers in a large pan. Add ground turkey and cook through. Add chili powder and continue to saute until fragrant. (At this point you can deglaze the pan with reserved bean water or plain water or vegetable stock - otherwise you are leaving a lot of flavour in the pan).
Transfer to crockpot add mix in two cans of no salt added tomatoes. Set crockpot to low for 12 to 15 hours. (On high possibly only 6 to 8 hours).
