Sandy's Whole Wheat Bread

Ingredients
1 pkg active dry yeast¼ cup warm water1 ½ cups hot water 1/3 cup brown sugar2 teaspoons salt3 tablespoons shortening2 cups whole wheat flour3 to 3 ½ cups all purpose white flour
Directions
Soften yeast in ¼ c warm water. Combine hot water, sugar, salt and shortening; cool to lukewarm.

Stir in whole wheat flour and 1 cup of white flour; beat well. Stir in softened yeast. Add enough of the remaining flour to make moderately stiff dough. Turn out on lightly floured surface; knead till smooth and satiny.(10 to 12 minutes)

Shape dough into a ball; place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease surface. Cover, let rise in warm place till double (about 1 ½ hours). Punch down. Cut in 2 portions. Shape each in smooth ball. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

Shape into loaves; place in bread pans. Let rise till double. (1 ¼ hrs) Bake 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Makes 2 loaves
