chocolate-swirl gingerbread

Ingredients
1/2 c (1 stick) unsalted butter1 c white all-purpose flour1/2 c wheat flour1/2 c packed light brown sugar1/2 tsp ground ginger1 tsp baking powder1/4 tsp salt1/8 tsp freshly ground pepper1/8 tsp ground cloves1/2 c molasses1 large egg lightly beaten2 ounces bittersweet chocolate melted and slightly cooled
Directions
Makes 9 servings

preheat oven to 325 degrees

butter 8-in square baking pan

mix dry ingredients in large bowl

melt butter in 1/2 cup water in saucepan over med heat

stir butter/water into dry ingredients

add molasses and egg and mix till combined

pour half the batter into pan, drizzle chocolate over the batter, pour in remaining batter, and drizzle remaining chocolate on top in decorative pattern

bake for 35 min or until toothpick comes out clean

cool completely before serving.
