Turkey and Brown Rice Soup

1 pound ground turkey1/2 large onion, chopped3 cloves garlic, minced4 stalks celery, sliced3 cups carrots, sliced1 cup dried or canned green peas, rinsed and drained1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes3 bay leaves1 tsp crushed cloves2 tsp cayenne pepper1 tsp paprika16 oz. frozen mixed vegetables2.5 cups brown rice, uncooked12 cups water
Brown and drain the ground turkey; meanwhile cut the vegetables. Combine all ingredients in a large pot, stir, and bring to a boil; cover and simmer for 45-60 minutes, or until rice is cooked tender.
Serve in warmed bowls alongside crusty bread or croutons, if desired.
