Creamy Potatoes au Gratin

Ingredients
4 medium-sized potatoes, sliced about 1/4" thick1 onion sliced into ringssalt and pepper to taste3 tbsp butter3 tbsp flour1/2 tsp salt2 cups milk1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400ºF.

Grease a 1-quart casserole dish.

Layer half of the potatoes, then the onion and then the rest of the potatoes in the casserole dish. Season with salt and pepper.

In a medium saucepan, melt butter aver medium heat. Mix in flour and salt and whisk constantly for 1 minute.

Stir in milk and cook until mix has thickened. Stir in cheese and continue to stir until melted (30-60 seconds).

Pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes, cover with tin foil and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
