Mom's Beef Stew

1 lb. Stew meat, cubed1 cup onion, chopped1 large rutabaga, cut into 1/2 inch pieces3 large carrots, chopped3 medium potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch pieces1 bag frozen peas (10 oz)6 cups water1/4 cup flour1 whole Bay Leaf2 tsp Salt2 tsp Pepper 1 tsp Mrs. Dash (R) Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend
In a dutch oven, brown meat. When meat is browned, mix flour with 1 cup water and add to the pot. Allow this to brown a little, stirring regularly. Add the rest of the water along with the onion, rutabaga, carrots, and potatoes. Bring to a boil and add spices. Turn down and allow to simmer for at least a half hour. Add peas 5-10 minutes before serving.
Can be made with either beef or pork.
Turnip can be substituted for rutabaga or left out all together.
Also tastes good with cooked barley added.
