Ingredients
1 pound (2-1/2 cups) yellow split peas1 envelope Lipton Recipe Secrets Onion Soup mix6 cups water1 teaspoon dried basil1 bay leaf
Directions
Pick over and rinse split peas. Put in a 2 quart slow cooker. Add the water, soup mix, basil, and bay leaf. Cook for about 8 hours. When I measured this recipe it made 6-1/2 cups, so it makes about 6 servings, 1 cup each.

Variation: If you don't have the Soup mix, use 1-1/2 teaspoons salt, and either a half cup chopped onion OR 2 tablespoons minced dried onion.
