Basic Italian Sauce (no meat required)

Ingredients
3 14oz cans Diced Tomatoes (no salt added)1 6oz can Tomato paste3 - 4 cloves garlic, minced2 medium onions, diced2 tsp oregano2 tsp basil2 tsp sugar1 tsp saltpepper to taste.25 cup grated parmesan
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Gently simmer for at least two hours. The longer it simmers, the better it tastes.

For company I sometimes add one pound 96% lean ground beef or a pound of ground turkey, which I cook first with some of the garlic and one of the onions - just don't forget to add in the extra calories.
