Ingredients
2 cups of fresh green beans, or frozen 1/2 pound of lean beef, sliced thin3 tbsp of low sodium soy sauce1/4 small onion, sliced thin1/4 cup chopped bell pepper, sliced thin1 large garlic clove chopped very fine1 tbsp 5 spice2 tsp olive oil2 tsp cornstarch dissolved in water
Directions
Slice beef as thin as possible. This is easier done from a partially frozen state. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, 1/2 the garlic, and the 5 spice, stirring well. Add the beef, and refrigerate for at least 30 mins. (More, if you like.)
In a heavy skillet, heat the oil until nearly smoking. Carefully add the meat, keeping it moving so it doesn't stick. When the meat is browned, add the marinate to the pan, cover and turn it down to medium low heat to simmer 2 minutes. Add the cornstarch and stir until thickened. Add veggies. Stir just until mixed, turn burner off, cover the pan, and let sit for 3 to 5 minutes. I serve this with brown rice, or with corn tortillas.

I added carrots, snap peas and broccoli and used lean, rare roast beef sliced thin. I also used more garlic and a tsp of ginger. It was just what we were looking for. Also didn't have rice - I know, who doesn't have rice! must be a big grocery day coming up! so use corn rotini pasta. - 11/25/13
