Walnut Chocolate Caramel Bars

1 cup whole wheat pastry flour1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour - separate out the 1/3 cup2 cups old fashioned oats1 cup packed brown sugar (or Splenda brown sugar blend)1 tsp. baking soda1/4 tsp. salt1 cup (2 sticks) melted butter (I use half I Can't Believe It's Not Butter)2 cups (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels1 1/2 cups chopped toasted walnuts1 cup (12.25 oz. jar) caramel ice cream topping - I used fat-free
Combine 2 cups flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt in a large bowl.
Add melted butter, stir until all is moistened.
Reserve 1 cup of this crumb mixture; press remaining mix into bottom of ungreased 9x13 inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until lightly browned/puffy. Don't overbake or bars will separate when done.
Toast and chop walnuts while base is baking.
Remove from oven; sprinkle with morsels and walnuts. Combine caramel and 1/3 c. flour in small bowl, drizzle over the rest. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.
