Pepper and beef gumbo

Ingredients
1 1/2 Cups uncooked white rice1 lb lean ground beef1/2 to 1 cup bell peppers chopped1 qt. canned whole tomatoes1 can (6 oz) tomato sauce2 tsp cumin powder1 cup chopped onions1 1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp black pepper
Directions
brown ground beef with 1/2 cup onion and drain well. While beef is browning, cook 1 1/2 cups white rice per package instructions--reducing covered cook time by half. In dutch oven mix beef, partially cooked rice, chopped peppers, remaining onions, cumin, salt, pepper, tomato sauce and whole canned tomatoes. Bring to a simmer. Place in oven and cook for 30 to 45 minutes or until rice is completely cooked and peppers and onions are done.
