Easy Chocolate Cake with Cooked Chocolate Frosting

Cake:2 cups sugar3 cups flour2 cups cold water2 tsp salt2 tsp vanilla2 tbsp vinegar1 cup vegetable or canola oil1/3 cup cocoa2 tsp baking sodaFrosting:1 cube butter or margarine1/2 cup milk3-1/2 tbsp cocoa1 tsp vanilla1 lb powdered sugar
For cake:
Combine all ingredients and beat on medium speed with an electric mixer for approximately 2-3 minutes. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 35-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean from center of cake. While cake is still hot, poke holes in it with the handle of a wooden spoon and pour on the frosting. Allow to cool and serve.
Frosting:
Combine butter (or margarine), cocoa and milk in a saucepan. Cook until butter is melted. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Mixture may be a little lumpy. Pour over hot chocolate cake.
Optional: 1 cup of nuts may also be added to frosting but are not included in the calorie count or ingredient list.
