Caramelized Onion and Garlic Pasta

Ingredients
1/4 C butter, cubed2 Large sweet onions, sliced or chopped1/8 t salt8 t minced garlic or 8 cloves2 cups grape tomatoes, halved1/4 balsamic vinegar1/4 olive oil, divided16 ounces uncooked angel hair pasta18 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled2/3 C shredded parmesan cheese1/2 t ground pepperfresh basil leaves, optional
Directions
In large skillet, melt butter. Add onions, and salt, saute until onions are tender. Stir in garlic. Reduc eheat to medium low, cook, stirring occasionally for about 15 minutes or until the onions are deep golden brown. Add tomatoes, vinegar and 2 tablespoons oil to the skillet. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain pasta; toss with onion mixture. Drizzle with remaining olive oil. Sprinkle with bacon, cheese and pepper. Garnish with basil.
