Ingredients
Cake:3/4 Cup Butter1.5 Cups Sugar3 eggs (large)2 Cups Flour.25 tsp. baking powder.5 tsp. baking soda.75 tsp. salt.75 tsp. nutmeg1 tsp. cinnamon2 TBS. cocoa3/4 Cup Buttermilk1 tsp. vanilla1 tsp. lemon extract1/2 Cup Walnuts, choppedFrosting3/4 Cup Butter2 Egg Yolks6 Cups Powdered Sugar (sift prior to measuring)3 TBS. Cocoa2 tsp. cinnamon3 TBS. hot coffee
Directions
Cake: Preheat oven to 350. Prep 2 nine inch cake pans by buttering the bottom and sides and then dusting with flour. Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in one egg at a time until thoroughly incorporated. Sift all dry ingredients together and set aside. Combine buttermilk and extracts. Alternating between dry and wet ingredients, incorporate batter. Mix in nuts.

Divide batter between pans and cook for approximately 30 minutes.

Frosting: Cream butter with egg yolks. Sift and measure confectioners sugar. With mixer on low speed add sugar, cocoa and cinnamon. Add coffee last, turning speed up to smooth icing.

Serving Size: Makes 24 slices (2 layer, 9 inch cake)
