Paula's Skillet-Steamed Asparagus

Ingredients
5 large asparagus spears, trimmed to 7"1 tbsp onion, finely chopped1 tbsp extra virgin olive oilDash of garlic powderDash of saltDash of pepperDash of basil
Directions
1. Heat olive oil in medium skillet
2. Add onions, and gently saute till softened
3. Add asparagus, stir to coat with oil & onions
4. Add remaining ingredients
5. Cover, reduce heat and steam for 5-10 minutes until aparagus is crisp-tender.

    I guess it is not fair for me to rate this, considering this is the first time I have EVER eaten Asparagus period, but I thought it was OK. It wasn't spetacular in any way, but I really don't have any other asparagus to compare it to. Unfortunately I will try a different asparagus recipe next time. - 7/11/08

    I think the cooking time is a bit long (at least for those of us with electric ranges). Also, I added 1 tbsp of minced garlic and omited the garlic powder. - 3/6/08
