Easy Tarka Daal

Ingredients
3/4 cup of lentils (mix of red and moong dal)2 cloves of garlic1 tsp chili powder, dried chilies or fresh1 tsp ground turmeric1 tbsp olive oil1 large onion - chopped1 large tomatosalt to taste
Directions
Boil lentils, turmeric, garlic and chilies in 2.5 cups water for around 20 minutes or until soft.

Fry onion and tomato in olive oil until onions are well cooked.

Pour tarka (onion and tomato) on top of daal (lentils).

Can be served as a main dish with boiled rice or as a side dish with a curry or as a dip for naan or popadoms.

Serves about 4 as a main meal.
