Potatoes and Cheddar Soup

2 cups water2 potatoes, peeled and cubed3 Tbsp. butter, salted1 small onion, chopped3 Tbsp. flour3 cups milk, skim1/2 tsp. sugar2 cups shredded cheddar cheese1 cup diced hamsalt and pepper to taste
1. Skin and diced potatoes. Add to water and boil until tender. Reserve 1 cup of water.
2. Melt butter in separate pan and saute chopped onion until tender. Then add flour to thicken.
3. Transfer onion mixture to potoatoes and add rest of the ingredients.
4. Simmer 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
Note: You can add any veggies of choice to this recipe.
