2 c. bread flour1 1/2 c whole wheat flour1 cup warm water (100° to 110°)1/2 cup low-fat buttermilk1/2 cup chopped walnuts1/2 cup regular oats1/4 cup wheat bran1/4 cup packed brown sugar2 tablespoons molasses2 1/2 teaspoons bread-machine yeast2 teaspoons salt3 T ground flax seed

Like an English muffin with nooks and crannies, this bread is excellent for butter, jams, or other spreads.

Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Follow manufacturer's instructions for placing flour and the remaining ingredients into bread pan, and select the bake cycle; start the bread machine.

Yield: 1 (2-pound) loaf, 16 servings (serving size: 1 slice)
