Hearty Turkey and Bean Chili

1 pound ground turkey1 medium yellow onion, chopped1 yellow or red bell pepper, seeded and chopped2 cloves of garlic, finely minced or pressed through a garlic press2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes2 (16-ounce) cans tomato sauce1 (15-ounce) can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained1 tablespoon chili powder1 teaspoon cumin1/4 teaspoon black pepper1/4 teaspoon dried basil1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon brown sugar
1. Brown turkey, onion, and garlic until cooked through over medium heat.
2. Add bell pepper and cook until tender, about 2 minutes. Add the rinsed and drained beans, stir. Add the remaining ingredients and spices and stir.
3. Bring to a boil and reduce heat; simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
