Ingredients
Directions
* 1 1/2 cups Split Red Lentils * 5 Cups Water * 3/4 Tsp Sharwood's Hot Curry Powder * 2 Tsp. Salt * 5 Tbsp Sunflower Oil * 6 Cloves Garlic, sliced lengthwise
Makes about 5 cups of Dal.
Pick over, clean and wash lentils
Put lentils into a deep pot with curry powder and cover with 5 cups of water. Bring to a boil stirring often. Reduce heat to medium and simmer partially covered for 25-30 min. Turn off heat and beat with a whisk until it is a smooth consistency. Stir in salt. Consistency should be that of a thick cream soup.
Fry garlic over medium heat until it is light brown, but still soft. Stir into lentil mixture and serve immediately.
I like to serve it over basmati rice.
