Ingredients
Directions
1 1/2 pounds Deli roast beef1 can (14 oz) Beef broth2 tsp Onion powder1 tsp Garlic powder3 slices Provolone cheese (cut in half)6 hot dog buns
Simmer broth, onion powder & garlic powder in small saucepan for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, cut cheese slices in half and line each bun with 1 half.
Place meat in broth and heat through about 5 minutes.
Divide meat between the buns (use tongs and shake excess broth into pan).
Divide broth between 6 individual custard cups or ramekins for dipping.
Makes 6 servings
Notes
Adapt recipe to your family's tastes. For example, you can add sliced onions &/or mushrooms to the broth before simmering, then place on sandwiches along with the beef. (My husband doesn't like those two ingredients, or I would make them that way!) I recently had a French Dip in a restaurant with a garlic-mayo spread on the bottom bun (mayo mixed with a little garlic powder or minced garlic).
