Brown Jasmati/White Basmati Rice Pilaf

1 TBSP orzo1/2 cup dry Jasmati rice1/2 cup white Basmati rice2 cups of chicken broth, divided OR 1 tsp chicken bouillon granules divided and 2 cups water, divided1/4 tsp garlic powder1/2 TBSP onion flakesdash of parsley flakes
Heat a heavy-bottom sauce pan and toss in orzo and brown rice, stirring to toast for a minute or two. Then add in either 1 cup of chicken broth or 1/2 tsp bouillon and 1 cup of water. Stir, let come to a boil, then simmer on low, covered, for about 20 minutes.
Then add the white rice and another cup of chicken broth or water and bouillon. Add in garlic, onion and parsley to taste. Stir, bring to a boil and then simmer on low, covered, another 15-20 minutes until rice is tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serving Size: Makes a little over 2 cups cooked - 6 servings in my house
