One reason for not using fresh mint could be that there is six inches of snow covering the mint plants. LOL - 3/9/14

I would think that plain nonfat Greek yogurt would be better than the frozen yogurt and fresh spinach leaves would be better than food coloring.. if a person has fresh mint that would be nice too.. Non-sweetened cashew milk is only 25 cals a cup it would help with the final calorie count. - 3/7/15

If you look at the calorie breakdown of this recipe by ingredient,THE MILK IS NOT INCLUDED.

When you add in the milk, it's an additional 42 calories. Total for one serving is really 206.7. - 3/3/15

is an alternative for those who wanted a whole foods version. It uses avocado as the green colouring. - 3/13/15

It was fine. I'd almost recommend leaving the milk out if your frozen yogurt is really soft like ours was--the end result is kind of runny. - 3/27/15

For a mom who has a son who loves the fast-food 600 calorie version, this is a great and fast alternative. He loved it just as much as the really green version, even without the whipped topping and maraschino cherry. I skipped the green food coloring and used Stevia. Everyone loved it. - 3/14/15

How is this good for you? It looks like a chemical cancer storm. Green food coloring and non calorie sweetener? Not to mention, who-knows-what ingredients in your non-fat frozen yogurt and processed non-fat milk. No thank you. Anyone have a whole food friendly option? I like suggestions for mint. - 3/6/15

One question. Why would anyone make a "shamrock shake," yet not put any mint in it? *Fresh* mint, that is. Thanks. - 3/7/14

Thank you for sharing, but I think I will stick to a smoothie of non-fat Greek yogurt, kale/spinach, a few pieces of frozen banana, Matcha tea, nonfat milk or unsweetened Almond milk. - 3/16/16

I thinned the mint and took the leaves off the plants I removed, washed them and put them in an ice cube tray. Filled the tray the rest of the way with water, froze it and put the cubes in a freezer bag to be used to flavor smoothies or iced tea. - 5/21/20
