*Moong Dal (Yellow split Lentils), 1 cup (remove) *Masoor Dal (Red Split Lentils), 1 cup (remove) Ginger Root, 1 tsp, minced (remove) Garlic, 1 tsp, minced (remove) *Canola Oil, 2 tbsp (remove) *Cumin seed, 1 tsp (remove) *Coriander seed, 1 tbsp (remove) *asafoetida (hing),1/4 tsp (remove) Onions, raw, 4 tbsp chopped (remove) Turmeric, ground, 1 tsp (remove) Jalapeno Peppers, , to taste (remove) Bay Leaf, 2 whole(remove) Pepper, red or cayenne, to taste(remove)
Cook dals in about 4 cups water with salt and turmeric until soft. In a skillet ,heat oil. Add cumin seed, and hing.stir fry for 1 min. Add onions, green chili pepper, garlic, and ginger. Cook until onions are browned.Add coriander, bay leaves and red pepper and mix well. Add onion mixture to dal and mix well.
