Shawarma Burgers

Ingredients
2~ 20 oz packages Jennie O Ground Turkey 93% lean 2~egg whites ~ whipped1/2 cup Progresso Bread Crumbs~Italian Style3-4 TBS ~ parsley, chopped(depends on indv. taste) 8 -10 ~ leaves of lettuce for wrapping 3- 4 TBS Shawarma Spice mix ~ as follows ___________________________1 TBS ~ Cumin, ground1 TBS ~ Coriander seed, ground1 TBS ~ Garlic powder( we use 5-6 cloves fresh minced)1/2 TBS paprika 1 tsp ~ tumeric, ground1 tsp ~ black pepper, ground1/2 tsp ~ Cloves, ground1/2 tsp ~ cayenne pepper, ground 1/2 tsp ~ cinnamon,groundfor topping 4 ~TBS light mayo
Directions
1. mix the Shawarma spices in a small bowl and set aside.
2. crack eggs, separate and froth the egg whites in own bowl.
3. add 3-4 TBS of Shawarma spice to egg whites and blend.
4. In larger bowl add Ground Turkey, bread crumbs, parsley and egg white spice mixture.
5. Blend thoroughly , be careful not to over blend and toughen meat.
6. form into 8 - 10 patties ( your preference . If you make 8 will change calorie count.)
7 . Cook until internal temp reaches 165 degrees.
a. grill about 5-7 min each side
b. George Foreman grill about 5- 7 min
c. 350 oven on cookie sheet about 15- 20 min ( all ovens vary , I use internal temp)
8. While cooking mix light mayo and a few tsp of Shawarma spices. let sit
9. when done we add a about a tsp of mayo mix , some more chopped parsley and wrap in lettuce.
10. Can be served on buns but not included Nutritional info as we don't use them.



Serving Size: makes 8 - 10 burgers depends on how big you like them cal.figured with 10 burgers.

    My whole family loved this recipe. We used beef rather than Turkey because I was looking for something to flavour the ground beef I had. Will definitely try the Turkey next time! I made the mayo sauce for my son who is off dairy but I also made a tzatziki sauce and a tahini sauce (also dairy free). - 5/31/13

    Thanks for trying them.. I am so happy your family likes them. I haven't made them for a while but planning on slapping them on the grill ..
    Oh and making them ahead of time and sitting for a while. .makes them better.. I do that too .. just like you .. yummo !!
