Basic Spritz Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened1/4 cup vegetable shortening3/4 cup granulated sugar1 large egg2 tsp. vanilla extract2 cups whole wheat flour1/4 tsp. baking powder1/4 tsp. salt
1. With electric mixer, beat butter, shortening thoroughly.
2. Add sugar gradually, continuing to beat about 5 minutes until light and fluffy.
3. Add egg, vanilla; beat well.
4. Blend flour, baking powder, salt together; mix well after each addition. Dough will be stiff.
Fill and assemble cookie press.
6. Bake 8-10 minutes at 375 F or until just starting to turn light golden around edges.
Serving Size: Makes 6-7 dozen cookies using a cookie press
