Strawberry Buttermilk Muffins

Ingredients
1 cup Sugar1 tsp cinnamon1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg1 1/2 cup all purpose flour1 cup whole wheat flour2 tsp baking soda1 tsp salt1 stick unsalted butter, chilled, cut in small pieces1 cup buttermilk2 large eggs1 tsp vanilla extract2 cups diced strawberries1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
Preheat oven to 400. butter muffin pan. Combine 1/4 cup sugar with 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp nutmeg. Sprinkle tin with this mixture. Sift 1 1/4 cups flour with remaining sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cut butter into flour mixture until pea sized pieces form. Whisk buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla together. Add to flour mixture. Toss strawberries with remaining 1/4 cup flour. Gently fold berries into batter. Add nuts if desired. Using a ice cream scoop, divide batter into muffin tin. Sprinkle tops with remaining sugar/cinnamon mixture. Bake 15 minutes. Turn pan and bake 10-15 minutes more until top springs back or toothpick comes out clean.
