Hearty Cream of Mushroom Soup

-8 oz mushrooms, chopped-2 cloves garlic, minced-2 tbsp butter or margarine-4 tbsp whole wheat flour, separated into 2 tbsp-2 cups chicken broth-1 cup 1% milk-1 tsp salt + more to taste-pepper-2 tsp onion powder-any other spices to taste
Melt the butter in a medium pot. Add in the mushrooms and garlic and sprinkle on the onion powder. Sautée until soft (about 5 minutes).
Add 2 tablespoons flour and broth. Stir. When the broth comes to a boil, add in the milk and the other 2 tablespoons of flour.
Add in the rest of the spices and any more to taste. Continue to cook for another ten minutes. The soup should thicken.
Serve and enjoy!
