Priya's Masala Chai

Ingredients
2 cups water1 one-inch piece of ginger, pounded6 large pinches of black pepper6 teaspoons of granulated sugar4 tablespoons milk
Directions
Using a mortar and pestle, pound ginger and add to water. Add black pepper and sugar and bring water to a boil. Once water has boiled, reduce heat for one minute.

After one minute, add tea bags and turn off the heat. Steep for five minutes. Add the milk and serve.

Serving Size: Makes 2 cups of chai
