Fresh Corn Chowder

Ingredients
8 ears of fresh corn4 slices of bacon1/2 C chopped onion1/2 C. diced baking potato2 C 1 C% or fatfree milk1 tsp sugar1/2 tsp dried thyme1/2 tsp salt1/4 tsp pepper1 TBS cornstarch
Directions
Cut off corn kernels into large bowl and scrape milk of corn cob into bowl. Fry bacon till crisp, and reserve bacon fat. Fry onions in bacon fat until tender. Add corn, diced potato, to mixture and simmer for 10 minutes. Add 1 1/2 C milk with seasonings and sugar. Mix in cornstarch with 1/2 C milk. Bring mixture to a boil and add last part of milk, stirring frequently for 15 minutes until thickened. Top off with bacon bits.
