3-5 cups stale wheat bread, cubed2 cups milk1 cup heavy whipping cream1/2 salt3 eggs, separated1/3-1/2 cup brown sugar, unpacked1 tsp vanilla extractZest from half an orange1 cup charoset
Preheat oven to 350ºF
Soak bread in milk, cream, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks, sugar, and extract. Add orange rind and charoset. Pour over soaked bread and fold in. Carefully fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Set baking dish in a pan of water and bake for 45 minutes.
