Banana Flax Muffins with Chocolate Chips

1.5 c whole wheat flour1 tsp baking powder1 tsp baking soda.5 tsp salt2 large ripe bananas, mashed.25 c packed brown sugar.25 c golden flax meal1 egg, beaten.33 c unsweetened applesauce1 tsp vanilla.75 c chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F, line or spray muffin tin.
Combine bananas, brown sugar, ground flax, egg, applesauce and vanilla in a large bowl. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add dry ingredients to wet, stir just enough to combine. Gently fold in chocolate chips. Divide evenly into 12 muffin tins. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
