Beef & Barley Soup

Ingredients
Brown 2.5 lbs of stewing beef in 1 T of oil and the 3 tsp of Montreal Steak spice. Let simmer while peeling vegetables. Peel and diced:2 large onions8 large carrots2 large parsnip1 med turnip2 stalks of celeryAdd the diced vegetables along with 12 cups of water to pot. Add 1 large can of diced tomatoes, 1 cup of raw, pearled barley & 8 tsp of beef bouillon.Stir and simmer til all vegetables are cooked. Serve as if or if thickening is desired, thicken using 1T of flour in 1/2 cup of water. Stir to make a paste and add while broth is bubbling.
