Ham and Spaghetti Squash Au Gratin

1 medium spaghetti squash (4 pound approx)2 tablespoons butter1/2 of a small yellow onion, sliced thinly2 cups of ham, chopped1 teaspoon italian seasoning7 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Cut the spaghetti squash in half and remove the seeds. Place in a large stock pot with water over the top and boil for 10 -12 minutes.
In a medium sized skillet over medium heat, add the butter, onions, italian seasoning and cook until the onions are slightly brown in color. Add ham to the pan and stir until heated. Salt and pepper to taste.
Using a fork, scrape the insides of the squash and transfer to a mixing bowl.
Combine the squash, onions and half the cheese together and mix well. Transfer the mixture to a buttered baking dish and top with remaining cheese.
Place into a 375º for 15 – 20 minutes until golden brown on top.
