Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

1 cup dried lentils1 cup chopped celery1 cup chopped carrots1 cup chopped onion1 1/2 cups diced cooked ham1/2 tsp dried basil1/4 tsp dried thyme1/2 tsp dried oregano1 bay leaf1/4 tsp black pepper32 ounces chicken brother1 cup water8 tsps tomato sauce
In a 3 1/2 quart or larger slow cooker combine the lentils, celery, carrots, onion and ham. Season with basil, thyme, oregano, the bay leaf and pepper. Stir in the chicken broth, water and tomato sauce. Cover and cook on low for 11 hours. Discard the bay leaf before serving.
