1 lb butter, salted1 1/2 cups raw sliced almonds, divided into 1/2 c & 1 cup2 cups granulated sugar8 ounces semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
Melt butter over low to med-low heat in thick bottomed pot or cast-iron fry pan. When melted, add sugar. Stir and increase heat to medium high. Stir constantly until white stage reached. Add 1 cup sliced almonds. Continue stirring until hard brittle ball stage reached (about 310 degrees). Pour into 17" by 20 " pan with 1/2" lip. Spread evenly. Distribute chocolate chips evenly over batter. Wait till melted, about 8 minutes. Smooth the chocolate over batter. Add the 1/2 cup sliced almonds evenly over top. Cool at least 4 hours or overnight. Can put in fridge to cool faster. Should be crunchy when cool. Break into bite-sized pieces.
