Pea Soup with ham and sausage

Ingredients
1 lb dried split peas1 ham bone1 cup diced hamabout 6 oz smoked turkey sausage8 cups water1 cup chopped onion2 cloves garlic, minced2 cups sliced carrots1 bay leafsalt and pepper
Directions
rinse peas. add water, ham bone, diced ham, onion, garlic and bay leaf. simmer 2 hours or until done. add sausage and carrots when about 30 minutes or so are left. remove bay leaf before serving.
