For Halloween: "kitty litter" style... Buy a new kitty litter pan, pour grape nuts (as the litter) in the pan and mold your cookies into kitty "poo" shapes, cool & place them throughout the pan. Guests scoop the cookies out w/ a kitty poop scoop. Place a big decorative black cat in the pan. Fun! - 10/27/08

These are just like the ones my mom used to make. Super easy and good. Great to take to church potluck. If you're watching calories or carbs or fat, be very careful. Easy to eat way too many. - 7/6/09

In my house these are called the cow poop cookies and are great with a little coconut! Awesome to freeze. An for a more sinful treat add marshmallow! - 2/7/08

I have made this recipe many times, minus the salt. Responding to ONANARCISO's request for help. The key is to not let it cook too long. Let it come to a boil and then only let it come to a rolling boil for one minute. Let it cool for a minute. If you put the oatmeal in too soon it will be mushy. - 1/29/08

Great easy recipe! I made them with the 1 cup sugar & 1 cup Splenda (although I don't like using sugar substitutes - maybe use Stevia next time) and also used 1/4 cup apple sauce, 1/4 cup margarine and they are still yummy! - 10/26/08

I love these cookies, I cut down the margarine by 1/2 - only 1/4C per recipe. It tastes wonderful, and is has less fat. - 2/10/08

These cookies are DIVINE. I like to use chunky peanut butter when I make them for a little bit of extra crunch. - 5/30/09

Mine turned out goopy. I added some extra oatmeal as someone suggested, but they never hardened up. I don't eat chocolate, but my hubby says the taste is great. How do you get them firm?! - 4/1/09

I made this today, for my daughter's valentine's day party tomorrow. I did taste the batter and it was yummy. The only thing I left out was the cocoa. Thanks for sharing this recipe. - 2/13/08

FYI when they don't get hard.Sometimes more peanut butter helps them set up better, be sure to boil long enough. If after you add peanut butter and oatmeal and they still have a shinny look instead of ldull look, even with everything in, boil little longer or add more peanut butter or oats. - 1/31/08

These were a family favorite as kids and are now a family favorite down to my grandkids and great neices and nephews too. Everyone LOVES them! There are some varitions such as make with Coconut--1/2 with oatmeal, or omit oatmeal use just coconut, or use ant unsweetened cereal instead of the oatmel. - 12/22/07

This recipe is a no brainer! It works every time, no crumbling mess or runny cookies! YAY! I'm tossing my old "useless" recipe and keeping this one! - 12/20/07

These were very good, just like I remembered from childhood. I only altered the recipe slightly by lowering the sugar to 1 cup...still very sweet & delicious. - 10/23/07
