Vegan Black Bean Burgers

Ingredients
1 & 1/2 cup black beans, when cooked 1/4 cup bean liquid or black olives water... (black olives are ripe olives) 1 cup old fashioned oats 1/2 cup chopped onions 1/2 tsp sea salt (opt.) 1/4 cup chopped nuts or sunflower seeds
Directions
Drain the cooked beans.
(save the liquid if you choose to use this in your bean burgers).

Add 1/4 cup of the saved bean liquid (or add black olives water)

Mash the cooked beans until soupy.
Mix all ingredients. Form patties. Fry in a nonstick skillet, or bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees,
turn and bake for 15 more minutes.

Dash of the sea salt on the cooked burgers
ONLY if not using the black olives water.

    Very good burgers although they did kind of fall apart. I added some cumin for some extra flavor. I'll definitely keep experimenting with this recipe in the future. - 12/3/08

    Just another note about the nutritional info... These work out to 194 cals, 4.7g fat, 7.3g fiber and 9.4g protein per burger (based on 6). You've only figured the beans into the info, but the oats and sunflower seeds add quite a bit to the totals. - 4/30/08
