Ingredients
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 3 large eggs 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup sour cream 2 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 cup oil1/4 cup sugar2 tbs butter3/4 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350ºF and generously butter an 8x4x2–inch loaf pan. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Whisk the eggs, sugar, sour cream, and vanilla together until well blended. Add the dry ingredients and stir until smooth. Finally, pour in the oil and use the whisk to gently but thoroughly fold it into the batter.
Put the batter in the loaf pan and bake 50 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool on a rack for 5 minutes, then remove from pan. Prick holes in the warm cake, and slowly pour butter sauce over cake.
To Make Butter Sauce: In a saucepan combine the remaining 1/4 cups sugar, 2 tbs butter, 3/4 teaspoon vanilla, and the water. Cook over medium heat, until fully melted and combined, but do not boil.
